 MALAYAN ALEKSANDR SERGEY, ophthalmologist, doctor of medicine, professor, academician of IAELS and AMTS of Russia, ophthalmologist in chief of the MS of the RA since 1984, since 1992 head of the chair of ophthalmological diseases of the YSMU, since 1996 medical director of humanitarian program "Eye Project" (AESP), since 1999 director of the ophthalmological center after S.V. Malayan. In 1966 he finished Yerevan secondary School after A. S. Pushkin, in 1972 the medical faculty of YSMI, then the clinical internship of the same university, in specialty ophthalmology. From 1972 to 1975 worked at the medical unit of the Vardenis region of the Armenian SSR, from 1977 to 1978 at the Yerevan medical unit N 5. From 1978 to 1999 was a head of the republican glaucomatous dispensary service, from 1982 to 1986 assistant of the chair of ophthalmological diseases of YSMI. In 1982 defended his thesis about "Treatment of penetrating pleasures of the cornea with application of Taurin" and the scientific title of the candidate of medicine was conferred to him. From 1992 to 2003 was an associate professor at the chair of ophthalmological diseases of the YSMU, in 2003 - professor. In 2000 defended the thesis on "Complex Organizational, Prophylactic, Medical and Rehabilitation Measures Raising the Effectiveness of Ophthalmological Care to the Population" and the scientific title of the Doctor of Medicine was conferred to him. From 1984 to 1988 introduced for the first time in clinical practice in Armenia the following microsurgical methods:

1. Cataract removal with installation of the artificial lens

2. Phacoemulsification

3. Transplantation of the penetrating cornea of adults / keratoplasty.

4. Vitrectomy

Member of some Armenian and international organizations, in particular the Armenian International Ophthalmic Union (1999), Managing Presidency of the Public Health Association of Armenia (2003), International Academy of Sciences, Nature Conservation, security of vital activity (real member since 2006), Academy of Medical Technology of Russia (Real Member): In 2002, he was awarded a Certificate of Excellence and Achievements in Medicine by the Ministry of Health. In 2006 was awarded a gold medal “Mkhitar Heratsi”, in 2011 - a gold medal “F. Nansen”, in 2012 a gold medal "In the name of the Caucasus in peace". In 2015 the title of the emeritus doctor of the RA was conferred. In 2018 he was awarded a "Chizhevskiy star". Author of 135 scientific articles, 1 monograph, 2 rationalization presentations, 5 inventions, 35 scientific books, author of ophthalmological book in Armenian language, also author of teaching manuals "Emergency eye care", "Military ophthalmology", " Neuro-ophthalmology "," Full examination of the eyes.
